Our SFB/TRR219 PI Florian Kahles was recently appointed W2-Professor for Experimental Cardiology. In addition to his scientific work, Prof Kahles works clinically as a senior physician in the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine (under the direction of Prof Nikolaus Marx). His clinical work complements his research according to the ‘bench-to-bedside’ approach: findings from experimental research are brought together with the aim of direct application in patient care. A central focus of his research is deciphering the influence of novel inflammatory biomarkers on the development and progression of cardiovascular disease.
